Roofing marketing, and the question that comes before it.
Roofing marketing companies sell two different things. An agency builds assets you keep: a website, local search visibility, tracking and brand. A lead vendor sells homeowner demand that exists now. Roofers usually need the agency when the phone is quiet in ordinary weather, and the lead vendor when the phone is quiet despite good visibility. theBuildd sells exclusive leads, not agency work.
Two different purchases, often confused.
Both are sold under the phrase "roofing marketing". They solve different bottlenecks, and buying the wrong one is the most common way this budget is wasted.
A marketing agency
Builds assets you keep: website, local search visibility, paid media management, tracking and reputation. Right when your visibility is the problem. Results compound over months, and the contract should name every account and asset you retain on cancellation.
A lead vendor
Sells homeowner demand that already exists. Right when your visibility is fine but volume is short, or when you need opportunities before an agency engagement could compound. You keep nothing when you stop paying.
Which theBuildd is
theBuildd is a lead vendor. We sell exclusive residential roofing opt-ins under coverage agreed by trade and ZIP code. We are not a full-service agency, and we say so on every comparison we publish. Local SEO is available as a separate monthly add-on through our partner theStacc.
The trigger, and the season around it.
The demand trigger
Roofing demand is overwhelmingly event-driven. A hailstorm, a wind event or a visible leak converts a homeowner from indifferent to urgent in a single afternoon, and the contractor who is visible in the following 48 hours captures a disproportionate share of that market. Nothing in ordinary content marketing moves that fast, which is why roofing budgets that are planned quarterly tend to miss the moments that matter.
The seasonal shape
Storm season concentrates a large part of annual revenue into a handful of weeks, and those weeks are not on a calendar you control. A roofing marketing plan therefore needs a documented storm-response process: who can raise budgets, who can change ad copy, who answers the phone at volume, and what happens to spend in the quiet months that pay for the readiness.
Why generic plans underperform
A generic contractor marketing plan treats every inquiry as one product. Roofing has at least three: an active leak that needs a technician this week, a planned replacement that will take several quotes, and a storm-related inquiry where insurance sits between the homeowner and the decision. They have different close rates, different sales cycles and different economics, so pooling them into one cost-per-lead figure hides which part of the plan is working.
Separate these before you spend anything.
Pooling them into a single cost-per-lead figure is what hides an underperforming channel.
- Repair and leak calls, which are fast, smaller, and often the entry point to a replacement relationship later
- Full replacement estimates, which are slower, larger, and routinely price-shopped against two or three competitors
- Storm and insurance-related inquiries, where the contractor inspects and the insurer decides coverage
Ask an agency these three.
They are trade-specific on purpose. A generic answer to any of them tells you what the engagement will be like. Call 860-758-8094 to talk about leads instead.
What is your written storm-response process, and who is authorised to change campaigns within hours of an event?
Do you report repair and replacement inquiries separately, or as one blended cost per lead?
Which accounts, content, tracking numbers and creative do I keep if I cancel?
What theBuildd actually sells.
On monthly plans you can add dispatching, so our callers qualify the reached homeowner before a roof inspection is scheduled. That matters most during a storm week, when estimator time is the scarcest thing you own.

an agency or leads?
Tell us what your roofing pipeline looks like now. If leads are the wrong answer we will say so, because selling you a plan you cannot work is how we lose the account in month two.
