Plumbing marketing, judged by what happens at 2am.
Plumbing marketing companies sell either owned visibility or purchased demand. Because a large share of plumbing revenue arrives as emergencies, the deciding factor is usually whether you can answer. An agency that builds visibility you cannot staff produces missed calls, not revenue. theBuildd sells exclusive residential plumbing opt-ins with optional monthly dispatching; it is not a marketing agency.
Two different purchases, often confused.
Both are sold under the phrase "plumbing marketing". They solve different bottlenecks, and buying the wrong one is the most common way this budget is wasted.
A marketing agency
Builds assets you keep: website, local search visibility, paid media management, tracking and reputation. Right when your visibility is the problem. Results compound over months, and the contract should name every account and asset you retain on cancellation.
A lead vendor
Sells homeowner demand that already exists. Right when your visibility is fine but volume is short, or when you need opportunities before an agency engagement could compound. You keep nothing when you stop paying.
Which theBuildd is
theBuildd is a lead vendor. We sell exclusive residential plumbing opt-ins under coverage agreed by trade and ZIP code. We are not a full-service agency, and we say so on every comparison we publish. Local SEO is available as a separate monthly add-on through our partner theStacc.
The trigger, and the season around it.
The demand trigger
A leak, a backup or a loss of hot water creates demand instantly and destroys patience just as fast. The homeowner is not comparing three plumbers; they are calling until someone answers. Marketing in this trade is therefore inseparable from intake: visibility without answer coverage simply funds your competitors, who pick up on the second ring.
The seasonal shape
Plumbing has a background of steady planned work punctuated by surges: a freeze that bursts pipes across a city, a holiday weekend of drain demand, a flooding event. The plan has to describe what happens when the board fills, because continuing to spend into a queue you cannot serve converts marketing budget directly into bad reviews.
Why generic plans underperform
Emergency and planned plumbing work are different products sold to different mindsets. A burst pipe is a speed contest; a fixture installation or a repipe is a considered purchase with quotes and scheduling. Treating them as one funnel produces a response standard that is too slow for the first and too aggressive for the second.
Separate these before you spend anything.
Pooling them into a single cost-per-lead figure is what hides an underperforming channel.
- Emergency calls where answer speed, not marketing quality, decides the outcome
- Water heater and fixture replacement, which is planned, quotable and price-compared
- Drain, sewer and repipe work, where diagnosis has to precede any promise about scope
Ask an agency these three.
They are trade-specific on purpose. A generic answer to any of them tells you what the engagement will be like. Call 860-758-8094 to talk about leads instead.
How does the plan change during a freeze or flooding event, and who is authorised to change it?
What happens to spend when the dispatch board is already full?
Do you track answered versus missed calls, or only calls generated?
What theBuildd actually sells.
Dispatching is available on monthly plans. For plumbing the relevant option is usually the live transfer, because a qualified homeowner handed over while still on the phone is worth considerably more than the same person called back an hour later.

an agency or leads?
Tell us what your plumbing pipeline looks like now. If leads are the wrong answer we will say so, because selling you a plan you cannot work is how we lose the account in month two.
